THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTING GUIDE

Do Christmas Lights Damage Your Roof or Gutters?

The attachment method and condition of the surface matter. Our seasonal service uses a clip on every bulb, with no staples, nails or zip ties on gutters. The team reviews the actual edges and access before confirming an installation.

Look at the attachment, not just the finished glow

A clean nighttime outline does not show how the lights are attached. Ask the installer to explain the method for your gutters, fascia and roof edges. A product that suits one edge may not fit another, especially when gutter guards or unusual profiles are involved.

Our quote starts with the actual property. Tell the team about known damage, loose trim, recent roof work and any manufacturer or contractor instructions you have for the surfaces. A lighting visit is not a substitute for repairing an existing roof or gutter issue.

Why we specify clips

Our seasonal method uses a clip on every bulb and no staples or nails. We also do not use zip ties on gutters. The purpose is to agree on a removable seasonal arrangement rather than leave the attachment details vague.

A clip does not make every installation method or surface appropriate. The team still needs to assess the edge, condition and access. If an area cannot be decorated as proposed, the scope should change before you commit to the work.

Gutter guards and shared rooflines need a conversation

Tell the team if you have gutter guards so it can consider the actual profile. Do not remove a guard or alter a roof edge just to prepare for the measure. Ground-level photographs can help show the arrangement before the visit.

On a shared building, establish who may approve attachments and arrange access. A neighboring unit’s installation is not permission to use a shared gutter or roofline. Keep that approval with the written scope.

Removal is part of protecting the plan

A seasonal installation should include a removal arrangement. Our price includes January takedown and storage, with the removal date agreed in the quote. You do not need to loosen or pull on the lights before the team returns.

After takedown, the lights are tested, labeled and stored. If the property will have gutter or roof work before another season, tell the team so the next installation is planned for the updated surfaces.

A written scope is more useful than a broad promise

Ask which edges will be lit, how the lights attach, how power is supplied and which dates are agreed. We do not claim that a photograph alone proves a particular roof or gutter is suitable. The free measure is where the team reviews the actual conditions.

We guarantee a fix within 48 hours for our lights during the season, weather permitting. That seasonal lighting promise does not replace a roof warranty or cover an unrelated lighting system. First-installation pricing and the 50% deposit rate lock are explained on our pricing page.

Questions to ask before installation

Bring any relevant property instructions to the measure. If a roof or gutter contractor has given you restrictions for an existing system, the lighting team needs to hear them before choosing an attachment method. A photo can show the outline, but it does not reveal every condition behind an edge.

Ask how the installer will handle each different surface, how the strands will be removed, and what happens if the proposed route is unsuitable. Keep the chosen runs and the method in the written plan. A vague promise to cover the whole house is less useful than a clearly identified scope.

After the season, communicate any planned maintenance before reinstallation. The stored lights may still be ready for another year while the attachment surface has changed. A revised layout or access plan should be agreed before work begins. The goal is a clear seasonal plan for the current condition of your home, not an assumption that last year’s arrangement always fits.
