The right comparison starts with what is included
A per-foot price is useful only when you know what it buys. An installation-only quote, a light-rental package and a complete season with removal and storage are different services. Before choosing a company, ask for the full scope in writing. Our published rates include installation, takedown and storage.
We supply and own commercial-grade Wintergreen C9 LED lights, with a clip on every bulb, outdoor cords and a timer. The season ends with testing, labeling and storage after January takedown. You are paying for that service rather than buying a box of lights.
Measure the decorated runs, not the house
Floor area does not give the length of the roofline you want lit. A front eave and porch can be very different from the whole perimeter. Gables add sloped runs, garages can create separate lines, and a side elevation may matter more from your driveway than the front door.
For planning, write down the edges you want included and compare the view from the street. Leave the actual measurement and access review to the free measure. Do not climb onto a roof to get a number for a calculator.
How much is a 200-foot installation?
At our 2026 first-installation rates, 200 feet is $1,300 at $6.50/ft, $1,600 at $8/ft, $2,200 at $11/ft or $2,800 at $14/ft. Reinstallation of 200 feet of our stored lights is $900. These examples include installation, takedown and storage and are before applicable sales tax.
Your 50% deposit locks the first-installation rate in effect when it is paid. A deposit before October 12 locks $6.50/ft. October 12–November 4 locks $8/ft. November 5–Thanksgiving, November 26, locks $11/ft. After Thanksgiving it is $14/ft.
What should a written quote cover?
Ask for the measured footage, chosen colors, decorated runs and installation method. The quote should state who supplies and owns the lights, whether a timer is included, and how power will reach the runs. Confirm any separate electrical or access work before payment.
Then read the season-long details: the deposit, the installation date, what happens if a light fails, when removal happens, and who stores the lights. An attractive first-day price is not the whole picture if those pieces are undecided.
Ask how the next season works
Our reinstallation rate is $4.50/ft for the stored lights, with installation, takedown and storage included. If you change the layout, ask for the revised footage and scope. The same length is not automatically the right plan after a remodel, gutter replacement or addition.
If you are considering permanent roofline lighting, compare a separate quote from Permanent Lights NW. Seasonal and permanent systems have different equipment and service arrangements. Avoid assuming a permanent system’s warranty or pricing applies to a seasonal job.
How do installers set a fair price?
For a homeowner, the useful questions are measurable scope, clear inclusions and a written total. For an installer researching pricing, another company’s rate is not a substitute for understanding its service. Labor, access, supplied products, in-season care, removal and storage all belong in the business calculation.
We publish the specific seasonal offer confirmed for this brand. We do not claim it is a market average or quote a customer’s house from floor area alone. A free measure and a written quote provide the actual project price.
Read the deposit and service terms together
The deposit reserves the agreed rate for the written scope; it does not turn an approximate calculator result into a confirmed quote. Check that the footage, selected colors, installation date and January arrangements are recorded. Keep the exact repair promise with those terms: a fix within 48 hours for our lights during the season, weather permitting.
| Part of the plan | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Measured scope | The exact roof edges and linear footage |
| Rate lock | The date the 50% deposit is paid |
| In-season help | 48-hour fix for our lights, weather permitting |
| January | Agreed takedown date, testing and storage |
